Welcome to Four Fields Farm

Who We Are

Picture

In the early spring of 2009 we, Hannah Gant and Shannon Raider,  decided it was high time to start our own business growing food for the Hartford community. Combining our visions for a local, urban, organic,  market garden we shook hands, got down to the business, picked out a name and ordered some seeds!

Both west coast transplants we share a passion for delicious and nutritious food. Like many new young farmers today we did not come from farming families, but from the suburban landscape of the city. Deciding to farm was the culmination of experiences revolving around environmental stewardship, food justice, and a penchant for laboring in the dirt.

We are thrilled to be our serving our community the healthiest most delicious produce.

What We Grow

Picture
We grow a diversity of fruits and vegetables with a focus on heirloom varieties; all your favorites and some with a new twist, like Cosmic Purple carrots or Yellow Doll Watermelons.
We cultivate unique varieties that are selected for taste, texture and beauty.

We use strict organic methods with no chemical applications at all. By signing the CT NOFA Farmers Pledge we promise to adhere to the most ecologically sound growing methods. Our goal is to grow food with the highest integrity for your heath and the health of our natural environment.

The seasonal nature of buying locally guarantees you are eating the most delicious  vegetables. Check out the Connecticut seasonal crop calender
to see when your favorite fruits and vegetables are available.
